Melanie NicholsMelanie Nichols

After growing up in Minnesota, Melanie decided to leave the snow and cold of the Midwest and moved out to Colorado. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from the University of Colorado – Boulder, then pursued her passion for adventure and moved out to the Washington DC area to earn a Master of Education in Counseling and Human Development from George Mason University. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Education Leadership at CSU. In 2010 she earned the Impact Award within the Division of Student Affairs and a National Residence Hall Honorary Campus Advisor Award in January 2014. As a first generation student, Melanie strongly believes that real education at college will not consist merely of acquiring a giant pile of facts but in the skill of learning itself. Melanie teaches in the Key Explore program.

Melanie enjoys spending her free time with her two daughters, Sophie and Grace, and travelling, especially internationally. She also enjoys reading, hiking, camping, and biking around town.
